Wow, its been a long time since i posted anything :D. This pictures doeasn't represent anything new and exiting from me. I was mainly doing this picture to freshen up on my photoshoping and see if i still was able to stitch together a pic in three days lol. Ok, the big planet Maxuvez, is perhaps my biggest yet, with its blue aura and green feel its another classic lol, but i think i fitted ok into this one. The starsky is very dense, perhaps a little too dense, but im fairly happy with that as well. The fighters in front is klingon fighter lookalike mesh from 3ds kafe, wich i freshened up a little bit and rendered in 3ds max. The satelite wich you see up far right is the ISS. The small planet up right is one of my older planets. And of course we have the good ol flare at the upper right corner of Maxuvez , hehe, i just couldn't help it.

Well, hope you like it. The planet will be available as stock in about a couple of days.

Enjoy :)

Amazing picture! I wonder if I'm allowed to use this picture as a background picture for my song I'm about to upload on YouTube, you okay with that? I could cite the url to this picture if you want to.

Best Regards,
Robin.

I have to say, its good your back bro, been missing your stuff & your attitude! :XD: Again you bring quite a nice wallpaper with your classic stylizing; Immensely detailed & photorealistically textured planetscapes with clean & smooth visuals co-exisiting in a well done image. & of course though, there is always room for improvement, a well done image indeed, infact its all very well done, however some things could be even better with a few tweaks ;)

Let me first say, the large planet which seems to be a primary focus point in this image reflects your style which i stated before; " Immensely detailed & photorealistically textured planetscapes" & its true, you couldnt have made a better photorealistic planet like this one if you tried (in the terms of its creation, the visuals are quite believable), what i am however feeling is the over-exposure from the sun; I do take it you applied linear dodge to the suns layer, this i believe does largely over expose the surface of the planet, this takes away detail that should be viewable ;) remember this may all be my own preference, & everything i say can be taken or leaven, remember this! :)

What i was saying was, perhaps putting the sun behind the planet layer, & then painting a seemingly reflection of the sun on the planet, like a reflection in teh atmosphere, i think this would enhance detail & focus even more so, just a suggestion do you choose to edit some things in your spare time :). The second largest planet to the right i feel is also well done; however i notice it seems rather all to similiar to amany of your other planetary resources, sure there is nothing wrong with that, but i do feel the need to see something a little more different from you, just my feelings, they are all wonderfully well done planets, but i do want to see something remotely different. ;o

The mood next to the largest moon to the right looks nice, its grey contour nicely detailed, as for the other small moons sprawled around the image that are about pea size, especially the largest of the 'pea sized moons' just next to the main planet has a nice atmosphere to it, however i am feeling they are a little too smooth in detail in comparison to the other planets; My suggestion? i would say you give them a simple run through adjustments-> contrast, &/or sharpen filter, this would further accentuate the detail you really did put into them, i know you did put detail in them, & it would be ashame to see it lost by simple cropping, yeah? ;p

Ahh the ring, well done of course, however oh so cliche, dont want to sound harsh but :| well like you said on msn messenger, these ring styles are over used, anyway, besides from that nudging in my mind, the environmental effects of this ring are very well done; what i love the most about it is how it fades to dark with the dark side of the planet, a sense of massive depth & realism is entered upon the image by even the most minimal of details such as this, good work for that. :w00t!:

Those ships, they are good yes, but what they lack is in fact that they are very clean, on close inspection they seem rather too smooth; lack of texture? a simple overlay of texture i would feel would make them feel more 'rough' & thus would fit in more then, besides from that they make a very nice addition; something different for a change they are! :)

I have to say the starfield is actually quite nice; it fits into the scene without distraction or lack of detailing, it has a nice blend of crisp stars & variation in overral appearance, while maintaining some customization via those angled flare-stars, there constant yet varied used does not distract & seems to keep the piece flowing all the well, nicely executed.

So! I have to say mate, another well made piece from you, every detail counts, even the minimal border i find a very attractive addition to the picture! :D Each time you make an image, the more skill you acquire ;) & im truly glad you have come back from you 'hibernation' period ;p for its great to see you back & making your images! :D

Later bro,
from your friend Kyle. :headbang:

hey bro, wow, what a wicked comment. Well, the things you said about the linear dodge on the sunlayer is completely correct, and yes, one looses a lot of details when areas are overexposed. Im gonna try out the paint/airbrush approach next time and c if it gets any better. As for the moon. lol, i did put a lot of details i it. Its actually called Ryders land, and its yet another 5000 * 5000 planet, but the planet has very little distinct texture so yes, we have a peble when it get small. Thanx for the great comment kyle. Its all noted and carved in the wall

Needless to say, when I saw this piece on "Today's Favorites" on the DA homepage, I was stricken with curiosity to see its full size, as I am a huge fan of astronomy... whilst I write this comment, I remain in sheer flabbergast to its marvelous diversity and variation of activity. The size of the ships, and their perspective near the largest celestial body gives off a spacious feel. It literally looks as if I just looked through a telescope on one of the moons, which are also well done. Of course, the incredibly realistic amount of detail you put into the land and clouds is just... breathtaking. I've never seen a planet photoshopped so realistically. I can only pull off such cloud work on a 3D rendering program, unless that is indeed what you did. If you did do those clouds in photoshop, then... dude, you REALLY should let out a tutorial on it, because not only will it be much obliged by me, but pretty much everyone who sees such fantastic work. The rings on the planet are also well done... their opacity and subtly blurred, yet still rather sharp variation adds, and pretty much completes the realism they bear. The gigantic lens flare that is a result of the diamond ring effect is also amazing, as well as the smaller twinkles that represent the larger stars. The only thing I could critique on this piece is the fact that there are too many stars. If that is the noise filter I see, then I can just suggest toning it down a bit - the faint stars in deep space come out a little too much here. It's a mistake I've made quite frequently on my renderings of space, which of course do not match your's at all. The only reason I even did critique about it is because an absolutely fabulous celestial artist as yourself shouldn't be comparible to someone like me - I feel pea-sized as it is. xD Nonetheless, this is definitely a fav.
